Long read, I’m looking for the right person and if you can’t read through this post, I am fine with that L.
Maintenance techs, painters, drywallers, and remodelers all welcome to apply, but I prefer you have some relevant experience with drywall and a desire to grow and stay in this field with me for at least a few years.
I already have a few family members I personally trained who work part time with me, but I’m looking to have a more serious and full time employee who can take projects and jobs independently, and get them done while growing with me and my company. You should have tools and a vehicle or be willing to acquire them as you go. Must have good knees and a good back, we carry a lot, bend a lot, tape and clean floors on all fours every day. It’s not comfortable
The company is currently very small, I started it 1 year ago in July of 2023. I will be transparent and say we don’t have company vans or phones yet, no insurance or sick time, but I’m ambitious to get there and can pay decent wages and work toward those things. I just haven’t got far enough to offer all of the benefit's yet. Which is why I need your help!
I currently do turnover apartment paints for a company in downtown Portland, we occasionally get a drywall job or a common area project from them. We just painted the 1st floor common area, and are painting 13 floors of elevator lobbies, so it can get very busy and require overtime and Saturdays often!
I also get drywall jobs for small water leaks, and other general handyman repairs and carpentry jobs from another client of mine, who I do service requests for.
Occasionally, I’ll get the referred home owner who needs paint, carpet cleaning or handyman help which is why attention to detail and versatility are important, but my main clients are property management companies that send paint and drywall work weekly.
Sometimes it’s slow and I may only have 2 days of work for the week, that hasn’t happened to me this summer, and I only plan to grow my business, but we do have winter coming up, so I’d like someone who’s understanding that may happen, I’ll try my best to keep us overly busy and growing is my main goal aside from my health and family. My reputation and quality has gotten me far this year and I need someone who can maintain that, it’s all in the name, FLAWLESS FINISH.
I also am looking to get iicrc certified within the next year to begin mold remediations and water mitigations to secure bigger insurance claim water loss jobs with the companies I work for and hopefully new companies going forward, which will again include a lot of drywall demolition and build back. So I can’t say it enough that I really want someone who’s good at and comfortable with drywall and can get even better at it! Knockdown ceiling texture, orange peel, hole repairs, trim repairs, sanding, demolition, taping, mudding, painting, all of that! It’s a messy job, we will gear up properly and clean up flawlessly.
I need a daily partner and someone who wants to stay and learn and train others and sometimes teach me something ! This isn’t a job you can hide in the back of the room on your phone, I will see daily what I spent on you, and how much money you made me, and that weight will always be carried! I need someone hungry, who likes to work and cares about integrity and quality but most importantly money! Mine and yours.
