Receptionist / Legal Assistant

Aldrich & Brunot is a growing firm created by two established attorneys. Our primary practice is representing injured workers and their families in the practice area of Oregon workers’ compensation. We also take a limited number of social security and personal injury cases. We’re looking for a permanent, full-time receptionist / office assistant. There is an opportunity for growth into more of a paralegal role in the future.

The idea candidate will have computer proficiency (MS Office suite), phone management skills, Spanish/English bilingual, able to work in a dynamic environment, and, perhaps most importantly, will be able to maintain a calm, caring, and empathetic attitude with clients (in-person and on the phone). As a firm representing injured people, most clients are suffering both physically and mentally and can sometimes be stressed and unpleasant. We need to be the calm voice of guidance, reason, and patience.

While the job duties will be explained more in depth during the interview process, we are looking for full-time employee that can greet clients in-person and telephonically, attorney schedule management, mail processing, and file management. Because your primarily role is that of receptionist, you will be the “face” of the firm. As such, we’re looking for a full-time, in-person employee covering regular business hours (M-F, 9-5; with a 12-1 lunch hour). Our office is located in a beautiful building in a beautiful area in NW Portland within walking distance of a grocery store and numerous restaurants.

Job Duties:

- Answering phones, greeting clients in-person and telephonically.

- Potential new client intake screening and scheduling

- Managing the attorney calendars

- Expert witness conference scheduling

- File opening and existing file management

- Process incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail

- Routine data entry

- Letter drafting and review

- Various other general office tasks

Job Requirements:

- 1+ years of office-related experience

- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with an eye toward detail and accuracy over speed

- Computer literate with experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (mostly Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams

- Prior experience with Clio firm management software is a big plus

- The ability to stay on task despite interruptions

Preference given to the following:

- Prior law firm experience

- Bilingual

Compensation:

- $20 - $25 per hour, on a salaried basis

- Generous PTO and paid holidays

- Parking assistance: covered parking in the building my be available (if your vehicle is small), or we can offer a NW district parking pass, or TriMet assistance

After 60 days, the following will be available:

- Employer match IRA (up to 3% of gross annual pay)
