Lead Medical Billing Specialist

The lead medical billing specialist oversees the entire claim revenue cycle. This includes creating, preparing and processing all insurance claims and patient bills and payments to Neurotherapeutic Pediatric Therapies.

Job Title: Lead Medical Billing Specialist.

Hours: 30+ hrs. Full-time.

Location: Canby, Oregon.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly.

Rate: $22.58-26.13/ hour DOE.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software including electronic and paper claim for Medicaid and private insurance companies.

Manage all accounts receivable with strong attention to detail, post patient and insurance payments to the accounts and reconcile bank deposits.

Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.

Create patient statements, set up payment plans and work with clients to resolve payment issues.

Submit and manage collections accounts, write past due correspondence to families.

Follow up on unpaid claims, file claim appeals, write appeal letters and reprocessed incorrectly paid claims within the required timeframe.

Resolve complaints promptly and professionally.

Review refunds for insurance and patient.

Create financial reports for Finance Manager including claims aging report and other AR reports.

Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatment.

Lead Duties

Attends monthly extended managers meeting.

Assists with hiring and training of billing staff.

Creates new policies and procedures for new EHR systems and assist with implementation of new government rules and regulations etc.

Creates procedures for new coding rules including updated place of service rules or modifiers.

Research new CPT codes for treatment and communicates rate changes to management team.

Attends all billing medical trainings for insurance companies and implements/ communicates new billing regulations to the billing staff.

Makes all the scholarship and discounts adjustments to patient accounts.

Required Skills:

Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Prominent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to stay calm in a stressful environment.

Motivated self-starter, highly detail-oriented, with great work ethic.

Education and Experience:

1+ year(s) Office and medical billing experience required.

Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding required.

Associates of Applied Science Degree or AAPC preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
