Cart Delivery Route Driver (Salem, OR)
D & O Garbage Service, Inc. is a fast-paced and family-owned company with more than 65 years of experience in the city of Salem, OR. We are currently seeking an experienced, dependable, and responsible cart delivery route driver to join our team. This is a 40-hour a week, full time position that includes driving around the city, UGB and Rural areas surrounding mostly south Salem. We offer a company paid benefits package for our employees including health, vision, dental, 401K, paid vacation, and some paid holidays after your introductory period as well as a boot allowance and uniforms. Drivers are home every day, and the schedule is M-TH, allowing for 3-day weekends.
This position requires High School Diploma or equivalent and Class C valid Oregon driver’s license. Driving history must meet insurance carrier requirements for company insurance (no accidents or moving violations in the last 3 years; inquire within). Applicants will be subject to background checks and asked to provide references. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and need little to no supervision to complete tasks in a timely manner once trained. Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and fit for duty medical exam. A positive attitude is necessary to succeed as we want all employees to enjoy coming to work each and every day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applicants need a valid class C Driver’s License
Clean driving record (no moving violations or accidents in the last 3 years)
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and random testing during employment.
Attention to detail and good penmanship are required.
Respectful and polite interactions with customers and coworkers.
The ability to maneuver a truck and gooseneck trailer safely on city streets. Experience backing a trailer is preferred but not necessary.
Knowledge of streets and navigating south Salem is a plus.
Applicant must show exceptional communication skills and display a positive attitude.
Must be willing to adapt to changes in daily routine.
Physically and safely able to lift 80-100 pounds and load onto a trailer.
Experience with a manual transmission is encouraged.
Drivers must be able to communicate with the dispatch and receive and complete work orders throughout the day.
Drivers must complete a daily pre and post trip inspection of their vehicle.
Time management skills are necessary to complete the routes daily within scheduled working hours. Working schedule is M-TH 6am-4:30pm
Employee must be able to work overtime if asked (not often).
Must keep customer information confidential and treat everyone with respect.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and adhere to them.
Applicants must have a team-oriented mindset and be able to work well with others.
Reports any incidents and accidents to supervisor immediately with honesty and integrity.
