This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, Theatre Missile Systems Division at Letterkenny Army Depot, in Chambersburg, PA Responsibilities Wire circuit breaker panels, generators or hydraulic power units requiring intricate adjustment. Utilize blueprints, manuals, diagrams, and other instructions for technical work within the organization. Develop, test or finalize reconditioning and testing procedures within the organization. Perform alignment on system with hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components. Determine nature and scope of repair or replacement requirements to final assembly and of unit. Perform certified soldering in accordance with current military specifications. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Ordnance Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Troubleshooting components of an air defense missile systems; 2) testing assemblies of mechanical or electrical systems; 3) providing repair to missile system and 4) performing alignment of systems with hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components. Operate specialized test equipment such as oscilloscopes, a variety of meters, controls, hydraulic test set, etc., to perform inspection and/or final tests. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are property performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.? PHYSICAL EFFORT There is frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions, although there is occasional sitting down at test consoles or workbenches. It is required to lift, push or pull a variety of items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally some above that weight. WORKING CONDITIONS ?May work in an environmentally controlled area or in areas that are well lighted, heated and ventilated. Subject to high frequency noise, cuts, bruises, and burns or shocks caused by high voltage energy. Also may be required to wear special protective clothing including head and shoe covering.
