Reporting to Director, Global Quality this is a strategic leadership role to identify, plan, direct and implement programs that achieve best-in-class manufacturing quality across MSA sites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain strategy and deployment of ongoing improvements for effective quality processes and tools (Six Sigma, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Capability, 8D Root Cause investigations, etc.)

Ensure MSA maintains third-party certification to ISO 9001 where relevant, on a regional and/or site-specific basis, with a focus onmaintaining a robust Quality Management System for the manufacture of MSA products

In partnership with Plant Managers and the Director, Global Quality, interface with quality managers and teams across manufacturing sites to define global quality-related best practices, processes, and procedures, including identification, facilitation and/or arranging quality training in strategic areas

Maintain an overview across manufacturing sites as to their adoption of the QMS, their performance against key performance indicators, and their progression towards Quality 4.0 maturity

Coach associates on New Product Industrialization deliverables (PFMEA, Safe Launch, Quality Planning). Responsible to ensure quality related deliverables are completed robustly and on-time for successful new product industrialization.

Maintain process for quality assurance during manufacturing site changes of product within MSA sites, coordinate and/or align necessary resources to ensure quality is maintained from sending to receiving site

Sustain a proactive culture for continuous quality improvement in processes and mitigation of quality risk. Be a champion of PFMEA usage and implementation of poke yoke solutions that reduce quality risk

Establish and monitor processes for inter-plant quality management, acting as a liaison where needed on quality topics between manufacturing sites and business units to support effective and swift problem resolution

Actively seek appropriate benchmarking and industry knowledge to identify and implement quality system and manufacturing quality best practices across MSA manufacturing sites, including digitization and Quality 4.0 advancement

Oversee the standardization and optimized use of the SAP Quality Module across manufacturing sites. Build the necessary oversight and talent (Internal, external, direct, or indirect) to ensure knowledge management of MSA application of SAP quality module. Drive improvements in the usage and align MSA with industry best practices where beneficial to the company and our customers

Support the identification, hiring, and retention of top quality talent within function and across manufacturing sites, maintain visibility to global training needs and establish relevant programs and opportunities, to build a world class team on quality principles, tools, and capabilities

Qualifications

Qualifications for this role include:

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

Expert knowledge of structured problem solving tools (such as A3, 8D, FTA)

Working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including facilitation experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)

Understanding of quality control concepts (inspection sampling, measurement techniques and tools, statistical process control, etc.)

Basic design drawing interpretation (e.g. tolerancing, dimensions, material callout, bill of materials)

Strong Continuous Improvement/Lean experience

Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001, quality systems, tools, and procedures required. Experience in leading and improving Quality Management Systems including experience with facilitating an internal audit program

Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to lead effectively in a matrix organization, in virtual teams (across different locations), and multi-cultural environments

Excellent communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written

Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, including seeing the big picture and motivating others towards common goals

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%

Bachelors degree in technical, engineering, business field or other related degree

Level 1 - At least 8 years of relevant quality experience within the manufacturing industry. MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Level 2 - At least 10 years of relevant quality experience within the manufacturing industry, minimum of 2 years' experience in direct staff management. MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. Previous global experience is necessary for this level.

Preferred qualifications include:

Experience in a global manufacturing multi-site organization

Six Sigma Certification, and application in multiple completed projects

Familiarization with SAP Quality Module

ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer or other relevant ASQ certification a plus

Familiarization with automation and advanced technologies for manufacturing quality control

Experience with Dfx concepts (Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly)
