WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Operates a multi-tank-computerized machine that utilizes various concentrations of nitric acid, sodium bichromate, and water to strip and passivate stainless steel parts.
Independently performs the job of passivating operator in its entirety as assigned.
Performs the passivation process to engineering specifications through utilizing one or a combination of the following: procedures manual, work instructions, router, and written instructions.
Performs passivation testing.
Maintains equipment and a clean, organized work area.
Collects chemical samples for lab analysis. Analyzes test results and takes corrective action to maintain bath parameters within operating specifications.
Follows established written passivation procedures to achieve the required surface condition.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on all equipment. Assists in repairing and replacing equipment. Develops and maintains a spare parts inventory to support the area. Generates requisitions for all supplies and materials utilized in the department. Assists in analyzing capital equipment expansion.
Communicates with production planners to establish work schedules and priorities to satisfy customer demand. Communicates on a daily basis with other operating areas to develop schedule requirements to ensure product delivery.
Organizes work queue, if any, for the most efficient processing of product in relation to the operation due dates. Segregates product by passivation type and lot sizes for full load operations when available. Schedules work flow to maximize machine cycle time.
Moves work into the department from the staging area and delivers completed product to the next operation as identified on the router.
Communicates daily operations with the area foreman. Informs the area foreman of problems that can not be corrected without outside support.
Maintains a record of chemical additions and dumping of passivation tanks. Accurately completes other paperwork requirements.
Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the job at hand.
Observes all safety procedures. Knowledgeable and trained on safety equipment use including protective clothing and respirators.
Maintains and operates evaporation equipment to extend the bath life and to minimize disposal costs.
Has working knowledge of the chemical properties. Able to calculate mixture ratios. Knowledgeable of chemical handling procedures. Able to read and interpret data.
Utilizes residual time to develop plans for the continuous improvement of the process.
Performs other duties as required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
High school diploma or GED.
Basic computer skills.
PHYS CAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. for continued periods during a given shift.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to twelve 12 hours).
Visual acuity.
Clear communication skills.
