Lead Preschool Teacher

Job Title: Preschool Lead Teacher

Reports To: Director / Assistant Director

Location: Royal Beginnings Early Learning Center (6701 Ogontz Ave, Philadelphia, PA)

Position Summary

The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes learning, curiosity, and social-emotional growth. The Lead Teacher plans and implements daily activities aligned with early learning standards, fosters positive relationships with children and families, and provides leadership within the classroom team to ensure high-quality early education.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

Develop and implement lesson plans that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Incorporate hands-on, play-based, and differentiated learning experiences.

Align teaching practices with state early learning standards and the center’s philosophy.

Classroom Environment

Create a safe, clean, and organized learning space that fosters exploration and independence.

Guide children in developing problem-solving, communication, and self-help skills.

Use positive behavior guidance strategies to support children’s emotional well-being.

Family Engagement

Build strong, respectful partnerships with families through daily communication and scheduled conferences.

Provide updates on children’s progress, milestones, and goals.

Team Leadership

Supervise, mentor, and guide assistant teachers and support staff in the classroom.

Model best practices in teaching, classroom management, and professionalism.

Collaborate with colleagues and administration to maintain consistency across classrooms.

Compliance & Professionalism

Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and developmental progress.

Ensure adherence to licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and center policies.

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and trainings.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required for lead role).

Minimum 2 years of classroom experience in an early childhood setting.

Strong knowledge of child development and early learning standards.

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Ability to lead a team with positivity, professionalism, and collaboration.

Passion for nurturing children’s growth and fostering a love for learning.

Schedule & Compensation

Full-time, Monday–Friday (8am-5pm) OR PartTime (8am-1pm)

$20-$25/hour (based on experience and education).
