Initially, you will be required to be on site 5 days per week at 800 W Montgomery Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19122.The Strategic Planning Analyst (SPA) is responsible for supporting PGW’s Strategic and Business Objectives, within PGW’s Corporate Planning Department. The Analyst will provide research, analysis, and project management support to drive PGW’s Corporate Strategy and annual planning, decision-making and implementation processes, collaborating closely with departmental and cross-functional teams. The Strategic Planning Analyst will carry out essential Energy Industry research and analysis to support the evaluation of new opportunities; assessment of business activities; and PGW’s continuous ideation process, including identifying trends and monitoring economic indicators that may translate to viable programs that drive PGW’s improvement initiatives with a focus on innovation.The SPA is a key contributor and handles project assignments that may have global effects on the organization, including development of new strategies, performing scenario-planning and financial analysis, and conducting other necessary external research for strategic intelligence to formulate strategies and create value for PGW and its customers.Responsibilities

Collect and maintain the repository of PGW’s strategic programs, projects, and metrics/KPIs, help to manage their regular reporting and communications.

Assist in planning and capturing meetings required for developing PGW’s Strategy, i.e., corporate goals, board objectives, and portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives.

Update the communication of strategic plan information for superiors ensuring appropriate parties are always well informed.

Coordinate with interdepartmental representatives to gather information and monitor execution of projects. Help to evaluate and redesign project plans, understanding the implications of different technical/process choices and guide internal clients to the best solution for their situation.

Coordinates and prepares high-quality financial reports and presentations, with a primary focus on executive and Board of Directors-level materials.

Conduct in-depth research and data analysis on specific industry topics as directed.

Stay informed and track industry, market, and competitive trends, providing news filtering and aggregation. Summarize findings, develop reports and provide regular briefings.

Learn aspects of a subject area, process, or skill necessary to understand the workstream/challenge, developing a preferred plan of action, engaging stakeholders and business partners as necessary, and seeing the task through to completion.

Gather external trends (opportunities and threats) information to facilitate the process of defining the strategy.

Research, identify, and track potential grants, rebates and external funding opportunities available to PGW, that align with corporate goals, strategic initiatives, and business operations.

Review and interpret grant requirements, eligibility and terms and conditions. Analyze potential project application for PGW. Oversee preparation, development, and submission of grant proposals across PGW.

Perform other special projects and assignments as directed.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master’s degree in business management or other related field of study. Master’s degree preferred.

3 – 5+ years of business or strategic planning experience, preferably in government, utilities, or a regulated industry. Experience in market research methodology, and/or city planning a plus.

Must have experienceanalyzing data regarding key financial and business metrics including the development of financial business cases that tie together financial information, underlying business drivers, and the macroeconomic environment.

Must have interpersonal influential skills with the ability to assist in cross-functional and cross-departmental projects.

Must have the ability to communicate persuasively and influentially. Must have the ability to develop detailed business, project status reports, and presentations that are tailored to a specific audience.

Must have the ability to identify and document workflows and to make recommendations on improvements.

Must have the ability to understand the "big picture" and long-term implications, as well as the short-term impacts and challenges, and how to achieve the strategy through tactical execution.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Must be able to be a strong advocate for advancement of strategic initiatives, which may be process-oriented in nature.
