WPHL-TV is seeking a News Producer with creative ideas to join our team. In this role you would produce daily newscasts, decide the order in which stories will be told, write teases and other content, time news programs, and posts news content across all media platforms.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Deciding which stories are of most interest to our news viewersWork with news management and other producers to create the show's rundown and manage workflow for a team, that includes other producers, photographer/editors, and othersContribute to the overall editorial process in the newsroomDetermine the order in which stories will be told in broadcasts and balances news and feature content to create compelling newscastsAbility to see big picture and assist with the execution of strategic and brand initiativesKnowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual mediaCoordinates with other staff and control room staff to ensure newscasts are clean; producer is proactive about troubleshooting problems and responding to breaking newsTime broadcasts and ensure they are clean and correct on the airDemonstrates a sense of urgency when covering breaking newsServes as a leader in the newsroom, helping to train less-experienced staffAbility to execute under tight deadlinesDetail orientedAssign reporters and photographers, as neededFill in for producers of other newscasts, as needed and in emergency situationsChecks video formats to ensure video will play on airEnsures station compliance with rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal lawsWrite informative and detailed web platform stories that include links and additional information viewers will find usefulRemains calm in stressful situationsEdits video using non-linear editing programsPerforms other duties as assignedAdditional Job DescriptionRequirements & Skills:Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field of equivalent combination of education and work experienceMinimum two years' experience working in newsMust be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production and engineering staff.Fluency in English with strong spelling and grammarExcellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skillsProficient in non-linear editingAbility to multi-task, and work in demanding, high-pressure situationsMust maintain a professional work appearance and conduct themselves as a professionalOther:Note: the station is not easily accessible by public transportationHours for the role are overnight, and will likely be 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.Phila BST
