Full-time, Tenure Stream, Associate Professor position at the University of Pittsburgh in the School of Medicine in the Department of Computational & Systems Biology. We invite applications for a full-time Associate Professor in the Tenure Stream in the School of Medicine in the Department of Computational and Systems Biology CSB at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine.We are seeking creative, productive and collaborative colleagues to lead a research team addressing key biomedical questions using computational and systems biology approaches and facilitating the translation of fundamental discovery towards clinical application.The successful candidate will have a minimum education level of Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Computational or Systems Biology or in a related field and have completed a productive postdoctoral fellowship having published impactful work relevant to the fields of Computational or Systems Biology. 3-5 years of experience preferred and demonstrated leadership in high-impact research, with interdisciplinary collaborations and multidisciplinary research accomplishments in one or more of the following areas:Biological Systems Modeling. Model molecular, cellular, or organismal physiological systems across length and time scales using diverse mathematical frameworks, performance measures, and input data types to produce models that align with data, offer biological insights, and guide future research.Systems Genetics. Blend large-scale experimental and computational approaches to map the connections between genetic changes and traits including disease. Translate genomes into mechanistic insights and actionable understanding e.g., precision therapy.Molecular Mechanism and Therapeutics. Understand and exploit the intricate and fast-paced interplay of proteins and other biological macromolecules. Reveal molecular forces driving their shapes, interactions and dynamics to discover therapeutics that usefully modulate macromolecular systems.While the position requires interest and accomplishments in computational and/or theoretical biomedical sciences, we would welcome candidates who combine 'dry' work with 'wet' experimental approaches.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor students in multiple interdisciplinary graduate programs, including the Joint Carnegie Mellon UniversityUniversity of Pittsburgh Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology, the Integrative Systems Biology Ph.D. program, and the Computational Biomedicine and Biotechnology Master's Program.
