The Innovation Associate position offers the opportunity to be part of the dynamic and adaptive Duquesne Light Innovation Center, which exists to harness the power of innovation to enable Duquesne Light Holdings (DLH) to meet its objectives and shape the future of the organization.In this position, the Innovation Associate will be expected to partner with all business functions to bring new processes, technologies, and ways of working to DLH to benefit our customers and employees. This position will help identify and define issues that might be addressed by innovation; solicit, capture, and define ideas; support the development and execution of innovation projects that turn these ideas into action; and ultimately ensure that the company is maximizing the value of innovation. The Innovation Associate reports to the Manager, Innovation.Location: Hybrid, downtown Pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaJob Responsibilities:

Communication:

Execute and adapt internal and external communication strategies.

Generate multitude of communication materials for distribution, collaborating with Communication Team, as necessary.

Monitor and direct communication/ideas collected through various channels.

Maintain internal and external innovation websites and other communication channels.Training:

Review, consolidate, and improve existing innovation training materials.

Generate new training materials, as required.

Assist in instructing employee innovation training sessions.

Empower, coach, support, and champion individual innovators across all business functions.Procedures:

Perform various administrative and knowledge management tasks, as required.

Update and maintain Innovation Center procedures.

Manage the procurement of external service providers, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of service provision.

Develop and monitor innovation metrics to drive accountability and measure success.Project Support:

Provide applied research, and complex analyses, to screen innovation opportunities and develop business cases for identified opportunities.

Facilitate tracking and forward movement of initiatives and active projects.

Provide routine updates to company Officers on statuses of innovation initiatives/projects.Innovation Ecosystem:

Build and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to be seen as a true partner for addressing strategic challenges.

Formalize existing informal innovation "ecosystem" collaborations (e.g., incubators, startups) by driving existing relationships to completion/contract.Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, communications, or other relevant discipline required.

One (1+) or more years of relevant working experience preferred.Skills/Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills-to include public speaking/briefing-as well as organization and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal direction in a team-oriented environment.

Highly detailed oriented and organized.

Strong capability to deal with change and ambiguity.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, to include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities are generally tactical and basic in nature, however work may vary in type and complexity, requiring the incumbent to be flexible to adjust to the given situation. Primary focus is on daily deliverables and outputs, while at the same time developing a knowledge of the broader context in which the work is being performed.Decision Impact

Independent discretion or decision-making capability is mostly limited. There is normally a general framework of established boundaries to help employees perform their roles and make decisions. Situations that require deviation from this general framework are typically not made alone. The employee may recommend a solution, however the recommendations are frequently presented to their manager or more senior level professionals for review and approval prior to the decision being made.Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
