A bachelors degree in a relevant field and 3 years of lab experience is required.Job SummaryPerforms a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Writes manuscripts and grant proposals and prepares data visualizations.Essential FunctionsThe Manion Lab investigates the interface between microbes and barrier tissue cells at mucosal surfaces using novel technological approaches. The incumbent will be involved in projects that investigate the interactions of bacterial toxins with hosts, neuroimmune interactions, and developing effective vaccines for mucosal pathogens. The successful candidate will work closely with the PI, and other lab members to perform experiments, key roles involve flow cytometry of colonic immune cells, purification of proteins, and production of DNA constructs. Additional duties may involve administrative work including ordering reagents, developing/refining of lab standard operating procedures, and training of graduate students and other lab members.Physical EffortMust be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
