Carnegie Mellon University Postal Services is seeking a full-time Window Mail Package Handler to join the team! In this role may be required to perform any of the following activities, including, but not limited to: sorting of mail and parcels received from USPS and other carriers; cashiering in a retail environment; delivery of a mounted (driving) route; delivery of a walking route; internal distribution of sorted mail; metering departmental mail; providing front-line customer services to internal and external customers; filing paperwork and receipts; and other duties as assigned.Apply Today to learn more!

Core responsibilities will include:

Responsible for sorting, distributing, and metering mail and parcel post packages.

Assists at the post office service window.

May service customers at the Post Office window, selling stamps, determining postal rates for domestic or international mailing, as well as selling postage for certified, insured, express and registered mail and packages.

Maintains appropriate records and handling cash transactions.

May deliver mail and packages to departments following a set schedule by operating a motor vehicle and walking a set route.

Operates a postage meter.

Sorts mail for distribution according to organizational structure, box and/or building location.

Receives incoming mail and packages delivered through U.S. Postal Service. Unloads trucks and unpacks mail.

Other related duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

Strong attention to detail.

Must be physically able to efficiently perform the duties of this position, which require arduous exertion involving prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching, and may involve handling heavy containers of mail weighing up to the allowable maximum mailing weight.

Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and with frequent interruptions.

Ability to organize work and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work well with others and/or as part of a team.

Decisions will be dictated by Postal Services existing processes and practices

Required to work in a mail room environment and work on-campus for deliveries

Qualifications:

High school or GED required.

0-1 year of relevant experience required.
