Under the supervision of the Life Safety & Access Control Manager, the Locksmith is responsible for the install, repair, and replacement of a variety of both mechanical and electrical door operating/locking hardware, including locks, keys, panic hardware, and door closers, throughout the 6.5 million square feet of campus space. Will need to promptly respond to daily service requests, student housing requests, and urgent client requests while interacting and communicating with customers in a professional manner.This is a second shift position that will work (8) hour days from 3:00pm to 11:00pm (Tuesday through Saturday) OR four (4) ten-hour days from 2:30pm to 12:30am (Wednesday to Saturday) with the willingness to work overtime and be available for call-out work.RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, repair, and replace hardware:

Mechanical/electrical door operating hardware

Locks

Keys

Panic hardware

Door closers

Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on all existing locks, hardware, and closers

Requisition job parts and supplies

Maintain parts inventory system

Acts as main after-hours liaison with housing for any student/dorm lock related emergencies

Ensures proper "hand-off" from 1st shift to provide continued support with any ongoing/open workorders or issues

Perform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent

Graduation from locksmithing trade school and/or apprenticeship program

Four years combined experience as an apprentice and journeyman locksmith

Manufacturers' courses on, or training in, a variety of mechanical and electrical locking systems

Experience with installation and maintenance of access control systems a plus

Experience in designing, setting up, and administering master key systems a plus

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, goals, and objectives.Requirements:

Must work second shift - 2:30pm to 12:30am Wednesday thru Saturday (40 hours)

Adaptability and openness to change as the department and organization evolves.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with customers and other groups.

Ability to work well with others and/or as part of a team.

Ability to maintain composure when dealing with difficult situations and/or individuals.

Ability to pay close attention to detail; keep and maintain accurate and detailed reports and records.

Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends to cover call-out work.

Must be able to work effectively with other staff members and deal with difficult people.

Ability to focus on requirements despite frequent interruptions.

Ability to lift 40lbs from ground to overhead.

Able to travel on foot throughout the 100+ acres of campus and occasionally work outside in inclement weather.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CLEARANCES:
