The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at the Pennsylvania State University invites applications for one open-rank, teaching faculty position in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) located in State College, Pennsylvania. This is a non-tenure-line, term appointment beginning in January or July of 2025 at the University Park campus, with an excellent possibility of renewal to a multiyear contract.The primary responsibility will be teaching undergraduate courses in residential, online, and/or hybrid modes, with a commitment to teaching learners at all levels and from all backgrounds. Qualified faculty may also teach graduate courses. Teaching emphases may include introductory to advanced programming in Python or Java; programming for web and mobile; software, interaction, and user experience design and development; prototyping; and interface development tools. University service is also expected of teaching faculty.Applicants must have a master's or terminal degree in a related field, including but not limited to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Industrial Design, User Experience (UX) Design, Information Science, Informatics, Computer Science, and Engineering by the appointment start date with Penn State. Qualified candidates with professional industry or academic experience in HCI and software development will be appointed at higher academic ranks.
