Then join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Sproul Forest District and provide skilled work in the operation of equipment and/or vehicles during the maintenance of district roads, trails and facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe primary goal of this role is to ensure the safe operation of various mechanized motorized equipment that is utilized in the maintenance of State Forest roads, trails, and facilities. This includes operating motorized, mechanized equipment to combat and extinguish wildfires effectively. Additionally, the position involves operating graders to widen roads, work on side ditches, and crown roads, as well as performing other necessary tasks to maintain earthen roads. The operator will also be responsible for operating backhoes or excavators to replace culverts, enlarge inlets, establish outlet ditches, and carry out other excavation duties. Furthermore, the role entails operating bulldozers to widen roads, clean tail ditches, work on motorized trails, and perform various earth-moving tasks. The operator will also utilize a tractor and stone rake to provide the final finishing touches to earthen roads. In addition to these responsibilities, the operator will be responsible for maintaining woven wire deer fences and operating equipment required for their upkeep. The role also involves operating bulldozers or tree planters to establish forest plantations and actively participating in tree planting activities. The operator will also assist in maintaining tree shelter plantings and contribute to regeneration tree planting projects as directed. Furthermore, the operator will utilize hand tools to clear inlets, outlets, and culvert pipes and will be responsible for installing and maintaining erosion and sedimentation control structures on all drainage structures in accordance with the current best management practices. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time seasonal employment.
This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUT benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
Travel: Report to headquarters. Then drive to work location in provided vehicle.
Work schedule is 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Tuesday - Thursday); 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Friday), with a 30-minute lunch.
Overtime: Both Voluntary and Mandatory for emergency response to Wildfire and Searches.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A;or
Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more;or
Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License without the following Restrictions: L/Z-Air Brakes, E-Manual Transmission, and O-Truck Tractor/Semi-trailer Combination.
