DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Forest Technician, your role is to support the Cornplanter District staff through the performance of assigned technical forestry assignments that promote proper forest management and stewardship both on State Forest Lands and on other forested lands in the district.In this position, you will be obtaining timber volumes through marking and cruising on various types of lands, such as State Forest Lands, other State Lands, and lands owned by cooperators. Additionally, you will be involved in surveying and marking boundaries for timber sales and other designated projects. You will support foresters in gathering field data for stand analysis, timber sales, and district projects. Moreover, you will assist in wildlife habitat management activities. Under the supervision of management and a licensed forester with pesticide applicator's license, you will administer herbicide treatments to control invasive and competing trees and plants. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed; 37.5 hours/week - 7-day operation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

An associate’s degree in forest technology; or

Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
