Candidates are sought in the broad area of Computer Engineering including, but not limited to, computer hardware and architecture, secure and dependable computing, machine learning, quantum computing, cybersecurity, VLSI design, embedded systems, and computer networks.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Villanova has a wide array of existing research areas of computer engineering, including, but not limited to, AI, computer architecture, VLSI and digital design, hardware security, post-quantum security engineering, trusted computing, and system networking. The expanding research profile of the department has also resulted in the awarding of prestigious NSF, NIH, and DoD grants, such as the NSF CAREER and NIH-R01 grants within the past two years. Additionally, the College has a strong interdisciplinary research program with six research centers. In addition to the strong research expansion in the College of Engineering, the College has opened an ambitious physical expansion this Fall.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a sponsored and sustained research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses at all levels of the computer engineering curriculum, develop new courses that align with their area of research, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and supervise research performed by undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. students.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field with strong engineering expertise, a strong record of high-quality publications and a potential to lead an externally-funded research program, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.
