Specialized experience for this position is defined as applying established and advanced information/cyber security principles, procedures, and analytical techniques; as well as experience designing, leading, and conducting reviews, surveys, self-assessments, and auditsExamples may include: Conducting reviews, inspections or surveys to determine the adequacy of complex security systems or controls.Evaluating the effectiveness of cyber security programs, systems, and procedures to resolve cyber security issues and problems associated with operations of a Nuclear Facility. Knowledge of the principles, procedures, methodology and administration of a security program in order to make risk-based decisions when accrediting cyber security systems; devising new or innovative security measures; and ensuring recommendations, methods and procedures are implemented. Knowledge of network design, architecture, and data base management to properly review systems and to ensure that adequate controls are implemented and are secure. Knowledge of electronics and automated data processing to evaluate security features, to apply proper inspection and survey techniques, to provide sound review of security proposals and plans for compliance and to assist contractors and agency management with interpretation of communication systems and standards in order to determine adequacy of security controls. Knowledge of Federal guidelines, directives, and DOE Orders, that relate to personnel, telecommunications (TS/TSCM), administrative, technical, physical, and Information security, to include hands-on implementation experience to provide the skill and ability to make informed decisions of the adequacy of security measures. Ability to conduct studies, analyze information, and provide written report findings sufficient to identify, communicate, and resolve issues and problems. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
