Summary: Queens University of Charlotte, an NCAA Division I affiliate that competes in the ASUN Conference, is seeking qualified candidates for the temporary position of Assistant Coach, Cheerleading / Stunting. The Assistant Coach, Cheerleading/Stunting is responsible for recruiting, building, and maintaining a competitive gameday cheer program consistent with the goals of Queens University of Charlotte. This is a part-time position up to 20 hours/week.This position is considered a responsible employee for purposes of the university’s Sexual Misconduct Policy. As such, this position is required to report any incident of sexual misconduct or interpersonal violence to the university’s Title IX Coordinator when made aware of such.The Assistant Coach, Cheerleading/Stunting reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics and Head of Spirit. This position is not exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible to earn overtime pay for hours worked above 40 in a single week. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Assist with planning, organizing and carrying out all activities involved with running Queens Cheerleading program in an efficient and professional manner. This involves, but not limited to: practices, competition, fundraising activities, charitable activities, gameday festivities, training, travel, purchases, and students’ academic successProvide instruction and development for individual and team improvement, analyze athlete performance, and prepare student-athletes for the highest possible levels of competitionAssist with recruitment and maintain student-athletes within compliance regulations and Queens’ academic admissions standards. This will involve periodic travel for recruitment within budgetary guidelinesAssist Head of Spirit with budget management for the Cheer program and give recommendations for cheer scholarships within budgetary guidelinesAdhere to all NCAA rules and regulations for the sportMonitor student-athlete academic performance to ensure academic success and policy complianceWork collaboratively with Queens’ strength and conditioning programs, Sports Medicine Department, Queens Dance Team, Head of Spirit, Marketing and Gameday OperationsAssist with coordination of activities for all home games, fundraising activities, camps & clinics, outside appearances with the Head of SpiritCreate and provide purchase proposals to Head of Spirit and keep accurate and up to date inventory on all items purchased by the program.Participate in departmental meetings and activities when appropriateWork with facilities management and leadership to secure facility rentals/use when appropriate.Participate in University fundraising and public relations activitiesCoordinate and execute high-level sport camps and clinics throughout the yearSupervise and conduct all official practices with the ability to transfer the knowledge and skills to student athletes and demonstrate certain techniquesOngoing communication with student athletes and staffBiweekly updates/meetings with Head of Spirit and Assistant Director of Athletics on upcoming activities and engage in strategic planning sessionsNon-Essential Duties:Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and University needs.
