Help us help others, and join Team Unum today!General Summary:This position is the central figure who combines operational understanding, risk management best practices, and audit expertise to lead governance for Unum's Digital Platforms team. Partnering across teams, you will help create routines, deliver reporting, and improve processes that enable us to stay well-managed and evolve how we think about risk management.The role is focused on understanding the rapidly evolving operational, technology, and risk landscape internally and externally to ensure we protect Unum while ensuring an optimal experience for our partners and customers. The role acts as the primary liaison for Digital Platforms bringing together a range of diverse stakeholders and business owners to develop governance practices for complex business relationships. The incumbent is an advocate for our partnerships, ensuring our processes protect Unum and our customers' data while ensuring Unum is positioned to grow and be the premier carrier for our partners.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the overall governance processes for Digital Partners, ensuring completion of all activities and adherence to Unum policies
Act as the liaison between Third Party Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance, Legal, and business stakeholders across the enterprise
Develop, maintain, and execute an overall governance strategy for Digital Partners that aligns to Unum policies and ensures proper risk management and oversight is performed
Continually look for opportunities to improve our governance processes using data and automation
Deep knowledge of vendor management and the operating models of our Digital Partners
Perform quality audits as needed to ensure Partners are adhering to contractual arrangements, Unum's policies, and regulatory requirements
Ensure that findings from Third Party Risk and audit are properly captured, and remediation items are implemented on schedule.
Actively engage with key stakeholders to streamline Unum's governance processes
Engage with enterprise projects to determine the impact to Digital Partners, create action plans to implement and/or communicate changes to impacted partners, and lead the implementation of the action plan
Be an advocate for Digital Partners across the enterprise, explaining the purpose of these unique relationships and the value they bring to Unum
Ensure that all key stakeholders related to Digital Platforms are trained and educated in their role to ensure proper governance and oversight of our partnerships.
Navigate in gray space to proactively identify new risks as the business innovates and Partners evolve
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience in governance, compliance or other related roles
Proven ability to for developing process improvements
Comprehensive understanding of various regulatory bodies and guidance governing and monitoring the industry
Familiarity with operational excellence tools and processes (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma)
Strong influencing and relationship skills
Extensive strategy development, process management/operations experience
Proven effective decision-maker, superior analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, using logic and creative thinking to solve problems
Demonstrated understanding of the factors that influence risk
Ability to negotiate with and influence members of staff at both peer and senior management levels
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate sensitive issues to senior management
Experience driving cross-functional collaboration
