Packaging Specialist

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment on their respective shift and support of the overall department’s performance goals. They are responsible for the completion of operations on a daily basis. This includes meeting the daily packaging output goals, following the procedures as defined by SOP’s, and executing specific verbal directions from their direct leadership. The Packaging Specialist is responsible for maintaining and ensuring their training is complete. Each Specialist is hired into a minimum level that they are required to attain. The Specialist must always be able to perform all tasks for the levels below their current level of training. For example, a Level 2 Specialist must be able to perform all activities from Level 0 to Level 2. A brief description of each level and the criteria required to maintain the levels are listed below.Level 0

New Hire

Level 1

JS Core training completed and assessment passed.

Minimum time on the job experience is 12 months

Level 2

Minimum time on the job experience is 24 months.

Responsibilities:

Maintain an operational knowledge of all packaging equipment and ancillary support equipment including control and communication devices used in the process.

Assist in identifying areas for process improvements through analysis of daily operations and process review.

Assist in identifying areas for health, safety, and ergonomic improvements through analysis of required tasks.

Assist in Developing strategy for process improvements to include:

Operational Specification

Action Plan for implementation

Analysis of process improvement

Supporting documentation as required

Creating or revising Standard Operating Procedures to support the process improvement

Assist in training programs

Maintain tools & equipment required for packaging equipment

Perform defined preventive maintenance tasks at a daily and weekly level as defined by SOP.

Support maintenance technicians on communication and controls.

Follow all SOP’s, safety and health guidelines and cGMP guidelines.

Ensure daily production goals are accomplished, complete daily production log and attend daily production meetings as required.

Update ERP System with the use of raw materials for each production order.

Prepare and setup the packaging line for each batch run according to the production order.

Monitor the packaging line and support equipment during batch packaging.

Perform process monitoring of the equipment.

Ensure packaging line is supplied with the appropriate QC released materials according to the production order.

Ensure the packaging line has been properly cleaned and line clearance performed at the end of each batch run and at the beginning of batch packaging.

Perform reconciliation of materials, finished product delivered to the warehouse, and packaging rejects at the end of each batch.

Ensure scrap materials have been disposed of properly.

Notify the appropriate personnel when equipment failure or deviation occurs during batch packaging.

Assist with the training of Packaging personnel on packaging SOP’s and TRC SOP’s.

Ensure appropriate housekeeping of the packaging lines is performed.

Participate in the internal and external TRC training program.

Maintain a professional team-oriented working relationship with fellow employees.

Follow written and verbal procedures as directed by the leadership team and TRC.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 65 pounds of equipment, parts or supplies.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 year Technical degree preferred and/or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to establish priorities and meet quality expectations with minimal supervision.

Ability to operate in a team-oriented working environment.

Excellent documentation and attention to detail skills.
