We are looking for a Tube Mill Operator to join our team!
The right candidate will be able to work well in a Team environment to ensure customers are receiving top quality products in a timely manner.
The Operator will oversee and control settings of a tube mill as well as troubleshoots any machine issues working closely with maintenance personnel through to resolution. Also, will assists mill team with changeovers. Ensures quality and customer specs are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Has overall responsibility to operates mill to meet schedule
for tube (profile, weld quality, OD scarf condition, order fulfillment)
Records production data as needed (order, coil, times, speeds, pieces, bundles)
Collects coil and bundle tags to turn in at the end of the shift
Reviews Mill Schedule with crew
Checks offline rafts for next setup
Leads crew during set up and any changeovers
Alerts maintenance of any difficulties with machinery
Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all machinery, and report unsafe conditions.
Perform all size, gauge, grade, and shape changes on the production line for assigned tube and pipe mill.
Troubleshoot, solve, and communicate problems to crew and supervision to ensure quality of product.
Assist maintenance in performing simple preventive maintenance and repair tasks such as mill adjustment, fluid checks, minor part replacement and equipment lubrication.
Complete all required paperwork, production records, and inventory.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Keep work area clean and orderly.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous mill operation/machine operator experience strongly preferred
Tube mill manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Previous experience in production, manufacturing or other related fields
Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and equipment
Ability to handle physical workload
Basic Math Skills are Required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Mathematical Skills: Must have good math skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, use decimals and fractions.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, reason or find out causes of something to try to find a solution. Able to problem solve with ability to diagnose equipment and quality problems.
· Communication Skills: Able to communicate in English for written and verbal communication, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and coworkers. Ability to read and interpret documents.
· Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to look up work orders and interact with programs to obtain key work order requirements.
· Previous experience with measuring devices (tape measures, micrometers, calipers etc.) preferred
· Must be prepared to work overtime and odd hours to accomplish the necessary tasks whenever an emergency that threatens production or safety arises.
PPE REQUIREMENTS:
The following personal protective equipment and clothing may be required to be worn continuously by some/all job positions.
· Various types of eye protection (Safety glasses, goggles, etc.)
· Head protection such as hard hats or climbing helmets
· Fall arrest harness (as needed)
· Hearing protection (standard and/or custom ear plugs)
· Foot protection (Steel toed footwear that may include metatarsal protection)
· Respiratory protection (dust masks and/or respirators)
· Welding helmet (as needed)
· Welding attire
· Various types of face shields
Experience requirements: 1 year Tube Mill Operator experience.
