Location: Greenville, SC

Duration: 6 month contract to start

Skillset / Experience:

Make available efficient databases meeting the application needs of the Information Systems of the business. Define and develop DB structures to provide IS solutions addressing information needs for the associated Oracle eBusiness Suite application (OEBS). Install, configure, upgrade, control, tune and maintain the DB and the OEBS software to support operational systems and development environments.

Responsibilities Include:
• Databases are available and efficient
• Databases are available in accordance with project planning
• The inventory of databases on the scope is updated
• OEBS instances are available and efficient.
• OEBS instances are available in accordance with project planning (including clones, patch & object deployments and data fix)



Projects/Release
• Define basic plans of optimized databases
• Install and optimize database models in order to guarantee the performances of the application
• Prepare the directions and procedures of databases in order to be executed by other analysts or administrators
• Take into account the optimization of application performance during the qualification, operability and cutover phases (data take on, tuning requests)
• Contribute to the securization of the applications (implement encryption tools, audit procedures) in relation with the Security Analyst
• Perform required clones (LAT, DEV, CQT)
• Deploy objects (customizations, patches) required, in compliance with the instructions provided by DevOPS and Release Managers
• As project focal point, is accountable for the DBA activities required by the project. This means:
  • being able to provide a status of the activities (some can of course be performed by the rest of the team) to the other actors of the project (PM / DevOps / BS Squads.)
  • participating to the project meetings (with PM, DevOPs focal point, BS PM, etc) to understand the needs & demands of the project, in terms of activities
  • assessing the workload associated to the required activities, and providing it to the PM
  • then, being able during the weekly DBA team meeting to explain to the team what is required

Supports environments used by the project (DEV, CQT, CAT, LAT, ),ie resolves the technical incidents of the DB or the OEBS components

Steady State
• Perform a regular inventory of databases under his responsibility
• Define an action plan for the update of bases in compliance with the SDI (information master plan)
• Analyze the impact and install product or security patches
• Apply methods and market tools to ensure integrity, availability and performance of databases
• Anticipate potential application issues monitoring the use of databases and ensure their solving
• Identify, study and solve the issues or incidents relating to databases
• Perform the clones required by BAU (Hot Fix environment monthly)
• Assess and run (or delegate) the scripts that correct data, after functional validation (data fix)
• Maintain OEBS instances inventory
• Develop and apply standard methods tools for managing performance and availability of the OEBS instances and components, assess the outputs in order to guarantee an optimal performance
• Prepare instructions & procedures concerning OEBS so that they can be performed by other analysts or administrators (SOS for instance)
• Assist support teams (SOS, Support BSS) when analyzing problems, help to resolve (Level3 role). In this context, ensures on call weeks 24/24 7/7
• Is in charge of coordinating new releases (DB, OEBS) and of the patch strategy
• Perform root cause analysis



Project and steady state (transverse)
• Control or carry out different actions relating to databases such as:
• Data loading
• Reorganizations
• Restructuring
• Restoring
• Capacity planning and performance tuning
• Control or carry out different actions relating to OEBS instances such as:
  • Kernel (+ OEBS) installation du Kernel (+ suite Oebs)
  • Pre-refresh and Post-refresh
  • Management of Concurrent Managers, Forms , WebServices
  • Technical purges for application and DB
  • Version upgrades


Mission subject to on-call 24/24 - 7/7 and weekend interventions
• Infrastructure experience within operations or administration
• Knowledge of IT project management and ITIL processes
• Must be a quick learner in an ever-changing technical environment (self-motivated to learn the tools as they change).
• Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, proactive, and work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Process oriented with a drive to implement improvements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
