We are looking for a Shop Supervisor/Diesel /Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance and repair of commercial motor vehicles. This position requires a motivated individual who is capable of working independently and is comfortable working with tractors and trailers. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting regular maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers, record keeping, ordering parts, dealing with vendors, as well as performing inspections to ensure safety and reliability.
SALARY BASED ON EXPERIENCE
3 years of experience working on semi-trucks and trailers
Must have own hand tools
CDL Class A DL preferred
Availability to be on call
Ability to work 8-to-10-hour shifts Monday through Friday
Ability to work some evenings as needed
Ability to communicate with drivers, vendors and sales reps
Ability to order parts
Ability to schedule work on several units at a time
Perform major and minor repairs on trucks and trailers. This is heavy equipment only and not auto repair
Perform preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers
Perform inspections and repairs on trucks and trailers
Repair and replace engine components such as hoses, belts, filters, etc.
Maintain records of work performed
Must be able to lift 60 pounds
Ability to perform frequent bending, squatting and reaching overhead while performing repairs
Duties include driving a service vehicle for roadside repairs
Perform oil changes and PM's
Ability to perform job functions in a safe and efficient manner
At times mechanics will be exposed to outside elements while working at the shop or remotely
Previous experience as a Diesel /Trailer Mechanic is required
Knowledge of shop equipment and ability to work in shop environment
Must possess the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in awkward positions
Good communication skills and should be self-starting and organized
Basic welding preferred
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
