Payroll Specialist

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our government-based team located in North Charleston, South Carolina. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing various accounting tasks, ensuring precise record keeping, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders. Responsibilities: Processing bi-weekly payroll data entry tasks for timely and accurate payment Handling accounts payable and receivable, ensuring they are updated and reconciled accurately Interacting with insurance providers and balancing payroll general ledger Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to payroll, timekeeping, and benefits Communicating with the Human Resources department to address and mitigate payroll and benefit concerns Creating and distributing instructional materials related to Payroll and Accounting Operating and maintaining various office equipment and software for daily tasks Coordinating work activities, reviewing work status, exchanging information, and resolving issues with various stakeholders Processing documentation associated with department/division operations in a timely manner Utilizing skills in Accounting Software Systems, Accounting Functions, Paylocity, Auditing, and Benefit Functions.Requirements Proficient in Accounting Software Systems Solid understanding of Accounting Functions Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) Familiarity with Auditing processes and regulations Knowledge of Benefit Functions in a payroll context Experience with Paylocity software Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to work well in a team and independently Experience working in a government environment is an advantage Relevant certifications or qualifications in payroll or accounting is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong problem-solving skills and initiative Excellent numerical and analytical skills Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll, taxes, and benefits.
