Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer I/II to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group in our Raleigh, NC office.  In this role, you'll support transportation and traffic engineering projects for state DOTs, local governments, and private-sector clients, from traffic impact analyses and corridor studies to signal timing, work zone traffic control, and multimodal safety improvements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties of a successful candidate include, but are not limited to: Perform traffic operations analyses, traffic impact studies, corridor studies, access management evaluations, and intersection control evaluations, including innovative intersection and interchange alternatives (e.g., roundabouts, RCUTs, MUTs, DLTs); Conduct traffic safety analyses, including crash data review, HSIP project support, and countermeasure development; Develop traffic calming and speed management concepts; Evaluate and design bicycle, pedestrian, and Complete Streets improvements, from feasibility through implementation; Prepare traffic forecasts, capacity analyses, and traffic simulation models using industry-standard software (Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, HCS); Support traffic signal design, signal timing, and ITS design efforts; Assist with transportation management plans and work zone traffic control design; Research and write clear, objective technical reports and memoranda that support project decision-making; Assist in preparing project schedules, scopes, and cost estimates; Conduct field observations, including traffic counts, queue and speed data collection, and site inspections; Coordinate and communicate with client staff and internal design teams; and Present findings and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and the general public. Skills and Requirements Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; 1–3 years of experience in transportation or traffic engineering and planning; Proficiency with Synchro, SIDRA, and HCS (essential); Experience working with DOTs and/or local governments; Knowledge of traffic analysis, planning studies, traffic safety, traffic forecasting, traffic signal design, ITS design, and/or signal timing preferred; Bicycle, pedestrian, and multimodal project experience preferred; Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred; and EIT or PE licensure preferred.
