Assistant Chief Engineer Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this supervisory position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, projects , repair, and preventative maintenance of the hotel with a focus on improving efficiency, profitability, and service levels.Provides supervision, administration and development to the Maintenance teamDevelops and implements administrative standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency, safety, and prompt service to internal and external guestsMonitor colleague's performance and do annual evaluations, suggest training available for their developmentDistributes daily workload and projects in accordance with qualifications of staff and urgency of jobMakes recommendations to the Chief Engineer concerning the condition of equipment and potential problemsConsistently monitors and educates all contractors on site related to hotel policies, safety standards, and guest servicesEnsures by spot checks that preventative maintenance program is followed as it is implementedPlaces orders for routine maintenance itemsAssists in the repair and maintenance of premises and equipmentEnsures all life safety program for the hotel is within government standard, codes and certifications of  mechanical vital components adhere to the buildingEnsures that necessary equipment testing is done regularly (Generator, Fire pump, etc.)Perform inspections of guestrooms and public areas and liaise with various departments for preventive maintenance scheduling and repairBe a member of the Health and Safety program of the hotel and make sure rules, regulations, and policies are being followed by colleaguesPerform supply and materials inventory and orderingMonitor colleagues' tasks, making sure that important daily walk thru is being done and raise of any mechanical concerns24/7 on-call basis availability during an emergency situationOversee the department in the absence of the Chief EngineerFollow codes, regulations, government agency, and Company directives related to operations and safety.Manage shift operations, assign work orders, and provide training to coworkers and subcontractors.Develop a preventive maintenance program for machinery and systems.Inspect systems to ensure operation within normal parameters.Maintain inventory of supplies and tools, ordering necessary materials to complete all tasks.Schedule preventive maintenance and downtime to cut business interruption and inconvenience.Perform repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance, completing maintenance and repair records as required.Respond timely to emergency situations, requesting extra help as needed.Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with values.
