As a member of the National Headquarters Operations, Readiness & Planning team, this position reports to the Director of Operational Readiness and Planning and manages two full-time employees and a cadre of volunteer leaders. Specific functions of this position include: program support and development, resource requirement projection, and process improvement. Coordinates with field leadership and internal and external partners for program implementation and capacity building.This position is a remote positionYou must work EST hours for this position.WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

Manages and directs a team responsible for mass care program development and continuous improvement including sheltering, feeding, distribution of emergency supplies, and reunification.

Coordinates with internal stakeholders while overseeing the development of doctrine and tools for field implementation of programs. Leads teams in the development of mass care-related training.

Serves as the National Deputy Assistant Director of Response, supporting the implementation of mass care programs on Disaster Relief Operations at scale.

Oversees the development, implementation, and adoption of Mass Care systems with regions, divisions, and Disaster Relief Operations.

Engages with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to implement the strategic vision of the organization to provide assistance to underserved communities impacted by disasters.

Works with divisions and regions to build mass care capacity to meet regional, divisional and national readiness targets.

The salary range for this position is $120,000.00-$140,000.00.This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications ):Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in emergency management, public administration, or organizational development preferred.Experience: 5 - 7 years experience in nonprofit, for-profit or government. Track record of leadership results.Management Experience : 3-5 years of staff management experience. Demonstrated abilities in the following areas: the ability to work with volunteers and coaching, process design and improvementSkills and Abilities : Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor to accomplish work through team leaders. Develop project plans. Demonstrate knowledge of program or service, ability to create presentations and training modules, and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills. Proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups and individuals, managing multiple priorities, facilitation, problem-solving, leadership, and partnership management. Additionally, this position requires ability for planning, public speaking, project management, and process improvement. Individuals must be customer-oriented, organized, and able to operate with an orientation toward solutions with an external focus, and team orientation. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.Work Conditions:Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences.
