Our Sumter, SC location is seeking an Safe Launch Inspector (Inspector II) to join our Quality department. Are you ready to shape the future with us?THE POSITION
Visually inspect finished tires to assure quality specifications are met prior to shipping to customers
Responsible for inspecting finished tires, identifying and marking defects, and classifying defects
Responsible for handling tires and rerouting to correct area
Inspection may cover safe launch, dock audits, visual inspectors, and sorting activities
Support internal and/or PPS product audit if necessary
Perform dock audits on outgoing shipments
Perform sorting of quality hold tires in finished goods warehouse
Read specifications, use hand tools and gauging devices to monitor current and ongoing product quality
React quickly to quality issues, equipment downtime, or other extraordinary condition and notify supervision whenever such conditions occur
Follow standard practices and perform all work necessary to promptly and accurately obtain quality and quantity production
Follow plant policies, safety policies, environmental policies, and keep work area(s) neat, clean, and orderly
Must be able to receive and follow written and oral instructions as to specs, procedures, tolerances, and various construction and quality requirements
Must be able to pass titmus eye exam with or without corrective lenses
Must have basic computer, Microsoft Excel, and problem-solving skills
Must have component knowledge, accuracy, and strong communication skills
Must be self-leading
Support the Continental Business System (CBS) structure by participating in the applicable CBT meeting, reviewing and managing his/her/team performance, conducting simple problem-solving using action sheets, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities, participating in the CBT reviews, and taking ownership for presented parts of the team boards
Follow the internal ESH work instructions in the daily work
Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others
Ensure immediate notification and response, and initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards
Other duties as assigned
High school diploma or GED
Two or more years’ experience in manufacturing environment
