The Sports Health Officer will be responsible for providing coaching and mentoring a network of existing and upcoming basketball and other sports team under the Amref CFF Centre Court Basketball Programme which aims to empower adolescents through inclusive, school-based basketball to strengthen healthy wellbeing and social cohesion in conflict-affected communities.The Sports Health Officer will train adolescent youths in basketball as a professional sports activity and champion activities that strengthen school-based delivery of life skills and health education and create inclusive spaces for self-expression, talent development, and peer support. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESProgram implementation, development and monitoringMentorship and psychosocial supportMentorship and Psycho-social Support Trainings to mentees (players) on Understanding MHPSS, Child & Adolescent Development, Risk & Protective Factors, Psychological First Aid (PFA), Referral Pathways.Championing Adolescent SRHR Guidance (Training) with the support of mentors and coaching aides on Adolescence, Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH), Anatomy and Physiology in Sports, STIs and HIV/AIDS Awareness, Prevention of Unintended Pregnancies, Dispelling Myths, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention.Peer-to-Peer Mentoring for underprivileged children (including undocumented minors/returnees from the Sudan war) over the project durations in Tonj and surrounding areas through Court Side Mentoring sessions twice a week.  Formation of 2 Social Clubs – with Monthly Drama Sessions, Arts and Crafts, and Debates in the 2 schools, where students rehearse, perform, and record plays focused on health and social themes for awareness raising and peer learning.Championing community engagement by organizing monthly Radio Talk on Health, Peace and LeadershipSport Tournaments  Organize weekly school basketball training sessions and monthly inter-school friendly matches serving as a platform for interactive health talks and SRHR messaging, with trophies, prize money, and scholarships awarded to top performers.Conduct Quarterly Review Meeting with students, players, mentors, local authorities, local elders2. Program coordinationParticipate in health, nutrition and sports program activities Assist in coordinating across the different components of the project such as supporting different school basketball teams, drama and other sport activities in different schools across Tonj.Ensure effective integration of health, nutrition and sports at community levelAdvise the Program Manager on the required sport articles, equipment and consumables to support teams.When called upon by the Program Manager, represent Amref in coordination meetings, assessments, and other events that promote Amref programmes in Tonj or Warrap State.3. Accurate and timely collection and presentation of programme resultsPeriodically report to the Programme Manager on activity performance, main challenges and lessons learnt and ensure all activities are carried out according to the work plan.Provide monthly data on the sports activities conducted, performance of different teams as provided in the project implementation matrix.Document and share human interest stories that showcase the impact of sports coaching and mentorship in behavioral change that increases community uptake of services and improves health outcomes.
