Summary: Meta is recruiting for a self-motivated and experienced Data Science Strategist to help better understand the social impact of Meta’s platform by the external community. This position will support our Data and Transparency products and policy teams, and individuals will work directly with external stakeholders across academia, as well as with Meta’s Oversight Board team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical & analytics skillset, as well as client-facing experience. Your background should be in a related quantitative or technical field, with experience working with large data sets and data-driven decision making at a strategic level, and possess strong communication skills.Required Skills: Data Science Strategy Lead, Transparency Responsibilities:Lead and grow our team of Data Science Strategists by hiring and mentoring highly talented and motivated individuals

Develop strategies and best practices to improve the team's work with partners in understanding their business needs and challenges, and delivering value to them through insights

Execute partner strategy to support both Academic Researchers and Meta’s Oversight Board team across a broad set of products and datasets

Partner cross-functionally with the product, data science, data engineering and policy teams to access & understand tools and data sets, and the partnerships team for partner support strategies

Work closely with partners to gain a deep understanding of their research needs and challenges, and support research projects by providing education and training related to available offerings

Support policy and academic research by consulting on cases with partners, and leveraging tools for data analytics (e.g. SQL, R, python), visualization (e.g. Tableau) and mapping (e.g. GIS) to conduct ad hoc analyses/data support, and investigate partner questions related to data, tools and policies

Leverage learnings from partner interactions to shape product strategy based on a deep understanding of the needs of current and future users

Consult on the development of new supporting content to better serve our products at scale, including codebooks, FAQs and other training materials

Help shape program strategy & vision, establish shared goals & work with cross-functional partners & leaders across the organization on strategies for executing, measuring progress and sharing results

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:BA/BS/BEng or higher degree in data science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, physics or other quantitative discipline, or equivalent degree/experience

8+ years experience in data science & analytics, team leadership and working with clients

Experience managing an analytics team

Experience developing and effectively managing relationships with external and internal partners

Experience working with large datasets, data mining, and statistical analysis

Experience working with SQL and Python or R, and visualization tools like Tableau

Experience operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in an organized manner

Communication and presentation skills, and experience clarifying and summarizing complex issues

Demonstrated experience building relationships with peers and senior stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies and time zones

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Advanced knowledge in the space of academia, research and/or policy

Experience working with or in support of diverse researcher communities

Experience with drafting reports, briefs, policy papers, or other external-facing materials

Experience in collaboration between law, policy, or political science and technology, operations, and/or program management

Experience working with platform, data, and/or privacy products

Experience working with product teams and cross-functional stakeholders, and translating gaps and opportunities into actionable product solutions
