Donor Relations Specialist

Description The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to support the mission and programs of a growing nonprofit. This position involves donor stewardship, communications, database management, and planning donor engagement strategies to increase contributions and foster long-term support.

Develop and implement strategies to engage, thank, and retain donors.

Build meaningful relationships with donors through personalized communication, events, and updates.

Coordinate regular updates to donors about the organization's impact, ensuring transparency and engagement.

Identify and research prospective donors to expand the donor base.

Establish and maintain an alumni relations group for sponsorships and engagement

Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records using the organization's database or CRM system.

Track donations, donor interactions, and engagement metrics.

Generate reports on donor trends and fundraising performance for the leadership team.

Write and design donor-focused newsletters, emails, and social media content.

Prepare impact reports and updates that highlight the organization’s successes.

Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent messaging across donor-facing materials.

Requirements

Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, communications, or a related field. Nonprofit experience preferred.Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect) or willingness to learn.

Basic graphic design and social media skills are a plus.
