Here’s What You NeedEducation
Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management or related field Req Masters degree in Healthcare or other related field is preferred
Experience
6 Years of experience in privacy program management and privacy regulations such as HIPAA, Texas state privacy laws or/and other federal information privacy laws is required
1 year of previous experience working in a large healthcare system and management of large-scale breaches is strongly preferred.
Advanced excel experience (Pivot tables, spreadsheets, data analysis, automation, data set management, macros etc.) is strongly preferred.
1+ years of experience with project management and risk management is strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) or other industry related credential. upon hire is required.

CHC- Certified in Healthcare compliance upon hire is required
What You Will DoCommunication and Training
Develop and implement privacy training for new and existing workforce members
Develop and implement awareness and educational resources that focus on identified privacy risk areas and areas of concern
Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster privacy awareness and education within the organization
participate in workgroups and other appropriate forums to strengthen and enhance privacy knowledge
Prepare reports for the system privacy officer for training, incidents, auditing and monitoring, work plans, or others as identified by system privacy officer
Monitoring, Auditing and Enforcement
Creation and revision of the privacy compliance auditing and monitoring program under the direction of the system privacy officer
Perform initial and periodic assessments and conduct related ongoing privacy compliance auditing and monitoring activities in coordination with the entity privacy officers
Actively support departments in their management of operational privacy risks via assessment, monitoring, and mitigation
Review and follow-up of the processes of receiving, documenting, tracking, investigation, and taking action on reported privacy complaints and potential breaches of protected health information
Review privacy policy violations for a consistent application of sanctions in cooperation with human resources, management and legal counsel as applicable
Assist the system privacy officer and legal services with the Office for Civil Rights and other agencies in privacy reviews or investigations
Assist the system privacy officer and legal services with vendor contract reviews
Organization and Oversight
Serve as a member of the system privacy and information security council and liaison to the entity privacy committees.
Assist the system privacy officer with quarterly privacy council meetings, agenda and resource materials
Assist the system privacy officer with developing annual privacy compliance work plans focused on continuous improvement of processes in identified risk areas
Serve as a liaison to information services departments, health information management services department, business office and other work groups as applicable
Monitor changes in applicable federal and state laws to ensure organization’s ongoing privacy compliance
Assist the system privacy officer with oversight of implementation or changes of non-technical safeguards in respect to PHI
Assist system privacy officer with developing and reporting metrics related to high-risk incident categories
Policies, Procedures, and Manuals
Creation and revision of the privacy program policies under the direction of the system privacy officer along with the identification, implementation, and maintenance of organization’s privacy policies and procedures
Collaborate with legal, privacy officers, committees and other stakeholders to validate the organization has and maintains appropriate privacy practices, including forms for confidentiality and authorizations, manuals, information notices, and materials that reflect current organization and federal and state law requirements
Assist system privacy officer, legal and other stakeholders to develop and establish organization-wide privacy best practices
