The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.Job Summary The Systems Administrator II position will be responsible for assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and support relating to the University Cloud environment and on-premises virtual infrastructure. The position will assist in the general production support and maintenance, environment optimization, and monitoring of various functional areas for SLA /billing/reporting metrics. Furthermore, the position will also be responsible for providing support to the Infrastructure and Operations teams and other end users.Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Office of Information Technology at UT Arlington provides premier solutions and support to our Maverick Community. Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.

Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.

Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.

Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.

Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.

Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.

Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.

Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.

Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.

Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.

Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.

Check system hardware availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.

Diagnose faulty system/server hardware.

Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

Required Qualifications

Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field; or equivalent mixture of work experience.

Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or equivalent certification.

Advanced degree in information technology or related filed.

Certifications addressing cloud infrastructure, hardware evaluation, operating systems, technical support.

Business continuity and disaster recovery, cloud computing security, incident management, IT governance, risk management, incident response and recovery.

Managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring basic cloud infrastructure.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to accurately define incidents, problems, and events in the trouble ticketing system.

Ability to monitor measures or indicators of system performance and availability.

Ability to collaborate effectively with others.

Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Ability to operate common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup).

Ability to develop, update, and/or maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

Knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability.

Knowledge of performance tuning tools and techniques.

Knowledge of server and client operating systems.

Knowledge of systems administration concepts.

Knowledge of organizational information technology (IT) user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control).

Knowledge of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.

Skill in interfacing with customers.

Skill in troubleshooting failed system components (i.e., servers)

Skill in identifying and anticipating system/server performance, availability, capacity, or configuration problems.

Skill in conducting system/server planning, management, and maintenance.

Skill in correcting physical and technical problems that impact system/server performance.

Skill in installing system and component upgrades. (i.e., servers, appliances, network devices).

Skill in monitoring and optimizing system/server performance.

Other Requirements

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems ( CJIS ) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
