This position will be a key lead in the design of the public realm and human centered mobility. This opportunity entails being responsible for overseeing and developing technical solutions for medium to large sized transportation, urban design and landscape architecture projects to ensure that the client’s technical requirements are fully met. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select medium scale projects and programs requiring urban design expertise and coordination across disciplines resulting in a better built environment for community and infrastructure outcomes. Regular task assignee on multiple projects.What You’ll Do:

Assists or oversees the work of other project team members in development of solutions.

Interfaces with client group and community stakeholders. Conducts site visits to review implementation of project.

Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation.

Identifies and recommends appropriate technical procedures that should be used on a project.

Leads and prepares design documents, technical plans, and written reports on projects.

Develops and prepares work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s for projects.

Provides oversight in consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction on every project.

Understands the design applications of construction materials, plan materials, construction methods, and the integration of landscape architecture and urban design with other disciplines.

Reviews shop drawings and requests for information.

Serves as task lead on design and planning projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field and 8 years of related professional experience, or

Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field and 7 years of related professional experience

What You’ll Bring:

Urban Design expertise focused on design of the public realm and human centered mobility.

Provides graphics, renderings and visualizations for internal and external communication, presentations and reports.

Manages urban design, landscape, and placemaking projects or task orders with no or few subconsultants.

Demonstrates advanced design and production skills with construction/technical competency (i.e., PS&E) utilizing attention to detail with minimal oversight from Section Leader or Manager. Provides guidance to less experienced staff. Leads urban design and landscape architecture-related tasks and overseas production of technical work by less-experienced staff.

Displays action orientation by taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm without guidance from others.

Has experience identifying/mitigating risks and solving project conflicts, particularly between above-grade and below-grade elements.

Continues to build relationships and seeks to understand the nuances of partnerships and political drivers.

Gains client focus by building strong relationships and delivering client-centric solutions.

What We Prefer:

Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field.

Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), Professional Landscape Architect (PLA), Registered Architect (RA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)

Attends shop and departmental meetings. Attends required safety training sessions or classes. Completes and submits accurate daily labor and weekly time reports.Completes moderate computer tasks, reviews and completes daily labor reports, and evaluates performance of staff.Other related duties will be assigned, including working with other departments within the University and throughout The University of Texas System.Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50lbs. including shoveling gravel and aggregates. Adheres to and performs related functions as assigned, and works overtime in support of special events, emergencies, and planned after hours work.
