The Camp Counselor plans, conducts, and leads activities while interacting and maintaining safety of participants in a camp environment. Work is performed under immediate supervision of the Camp Lead Counselor with exercise of judgment in accordance with established policies, procedures and techniques. This is a seasonal position.
Dates needed: March 11, 2019- March 15, 2019
WORK HOURS
As assigned: Monday-Friday 6:00 am 6:00 pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Oversees the conduct and behavior of program participants and ensures safety of participants.
Assists in facility set up/clean up.
Works cooperatively with other camp staff to meet camp goals.
Develops and prepares weekly lesson plans to meet camp objectives.
Creates a learning environment that promotes sportsmanship and team atmosphere.
Adapts classes, programs and workshops to student age, physical ability and interests.
Makes modifications to classes, programs and workshops to accommodate individuals with a variety of disabilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible for facility cleanliness, appearance and maintenance requests.
Ensures safe and proper use of equipment and materials.
ABILITIES
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Ability to instruct participants in diverse activities.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, camp participants and parents.
Ability to represent the youth program and City of Hutto with professional and positive behavior.
Ability to create positive work/camp atmosphere.
Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required
A minimum of 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED
Strong customer service skills
Preferred
First Aid Certification
CPR/AED Certification
