DESCRIPTION

Job summary
EC2 Trust Infrastructure is hiring Software Development Engineers to make the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) the safest place to do business. You will join our team of experienced contributors, building the next generation of EC2 cloud technology. You will work closely with some pre-release Amazon technologies and build services that handle large-scale, highly available distributed systems. EC2 Nitro drives the planet's largest, fastest growing and most feature-rich compute cloud. Nitro is AWS's ground-up design for virtualization at global scale built on a fully custom stack of hardware, firmware and applications. Nitro has enabled EC2 to support Intel, AMD and Amazon's custom silicon - Graviton2 - while raising the industry bar for security and performance across our product line.

We look for software development engineers who are passionate about working in cutting-edge technologies, bring deep technical knowledge, experience with distributed systems to drive technical design and implement end-to-end solutions. We are a dedicated, thoughtful, fun crew of Engineers who build services and tools. Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members and encourage curiosity. You will have access to Principal and Distinguished Engineers across EC2 for support and mentorship to grow your skills and knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for owning multiple services, architecting them to scale, and have robust unit tests and metrics
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers and guide them towards good software development techniques
  • Be a leader in the team and within EC2 around cloud infrastructure, distributed systems and automation
  • Conduct deep code reviews and find design flaws, and think long-term about driving down operational cost
  • Solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context, and implementing fixes to ensure that an issue will never happen again
  • Stay abreast of new techniques, tools, and methodologies used to solve cloud security and abuse problems

About the team

We provide identity certificate to each host in the substrate, manage host level firewall rules to ensure secure communication within the substrate, secure the access to Nitro droplets by vending signed bearer tokens and own secrets rotation infrastructure that handles global secret rotations automatically while maintaining the safety guarantees.
