Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Telecom Tower Technician (Foreman/Crew Lead) to manage a 3-person crew in the DFW metroplex. This field-based role focuses on troubleshooting Verizon Wireless cell site tickets, performing repairs, upgrades, and testing to maintain site functionality. Travel is required approximately 2 weeks every 4 months. As a Crew Lead, you’ll drive safety, mentor your team, and deliver results for Verizon.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Field Operations: Supervise a 3-person crew, managing daily troubleshooting tasks, ensuring safety, and meeting project deadlines.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and resolve Verizon cell site issues, including RTWP, RSSI, RET alarms, power, and fiber problems.
Equipment Management: Oversee replacement and commissioning of antennas, radios, OVPs, and other Verizon equipment.
Testing & Configuration: Perform PIM testing, line sweeps, RET configurations, and other diagnostic protocols to ensure site performance.
Tower Climbing: Safely climb towers (60-500+ ft) to conduct inspections, repairs, and maintenance, adhering to 100% tie-off and safety protocols.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of site status, crew timesheets, and project updates using company tools.
Client Communication: Provide clear updates to Verizon representatives and internal management on site progress.
Safety Leadership: Enforce OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards, including pre-climb inspections and proper PPE use.
Qualifications:
Experience:
4+ years of telecom tower climbing experience, with 1+ years in a foreman or crew lead role preferred.
Familiarity with Verizon Wireless equipment and sector configurations.
Certifications:
Nice to have: Competent Climber, Competent Rigging, OSHA 10/30, CPR/First Aid, Anritsu Site Master, PIM testing, RF Awareness, or Tower Rescue.
No certifications? No problem! We provide paid training to obtain the necessary certifications for the role.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex site issues.
Proficiency in PIM testing, line sweeps, RET configurations, and Alarm configurations.
Leadership experience in a field setting to train and motivate a crew.
Comfortable working at heights and in varying outdoor conditions.
Other Requirements:
Must be local to the DFW market (no relocation offered).
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Reliable personal transportation to get to work (company truck provided for job duties).
Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings and background checks.
Physical ability to climb towers and carry up to 75 lbs of equipment.
Travel: Approximately 2 weeks of travel every 4 months, with company support for travel-related expenses.
