Job Description:
The candidate hired for this position will be part of a maintenance facility team tasked with caring for a fleet of MCI and Prevost motor coaches based in Dallas, Texas. The ideal candidate will have experience working on Cummins and Volvo engines and Allison transmissions. Individuals selected for this position will execute preventative maintenance plans, implement reactive repairs, and identify maintenance trends.
POSITION PURPOSE
To maintain a fleet of vehicles in order to support the company goals for growth and day-to-day operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Execute mileage based preventative maintenance plans on motor coaches.
· Inspect vehicle brakes and suspension and replace all components as necessary.
· Consistently maintain all pulleys, belts, and hoses in order to mitigate risk of failure.
· Replace alternators and repair other electrical components as needed to maintain fleet.
· Service HVAC units both for preventative service and issue resolution.
· Complete general motor coach maintenance repairs of exterior items such as luggage bay doors, engine access panels, passenger entrance door and all exterior light components.
· Rotate and replace tires as needed to prevent roadside issues.
· Repair passenger plumbing system, seats, parcel racks, cabinets, and more.
· Replace plumbing water pumps, refrigeration, and other interior appliances.
· Execute roadside repairs as necessary in order to minimize mechanical issue impact on passengers.
· Troubleshoot engine issue codes and recommend corrective action.
· Utilize OEM software (Prevost Tech Tool/Cummins Insite) to diagnose motor coach issues and clear codes.
· Closeout work orders as assigned by company fleet managers.
· Work with company fleet manager to order and maintain proper levels of spare parts, fluids, and other shop supplies.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
· Commercial Driver’s License strongly preferred by not required, if no CDL, ability to retain a CDL.
· Hands on diesel engine experience preferably Cummins and Volvo along with Allison transmission
· Preference for ASE certified applicants: diesel, transit bus.
· Preference for MACS certified for freon handling.
· Must have a flexible work schedule including weekends, early mornings, and nights.
· Strong ability to utilize laptop computer as well as mobile software solutions.
· Must be able to obtain access of any component on the vehicle with the vehicle in any position.
· Must be able to use tools or work aids to work, move, guide or place objects or materials onto or into vehicle to accomplish repair tasks. Also, must be able to exercise considerable judgment in the selection and adjustment of appropriate tools, objects, or materials to accomplish these tasks.
· Must be able to sustain a workload consisting of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (occurring up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (occurring 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly (occurring 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
· Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
· Must be able to understand and utilize practical applications of fractions, percentages, decimals, ratios, and proportions.
· Must be able to read and comprehend safety rules, instructions in the use of shop tools and equipment, repair manuals, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
· Must be able to calibrate, monitor, and utilize test equipment and machines, and inspect various components of the vehicle.
· Must be able to communicate in clear fluent English with drivers, other mechanics, parts counterpersons, vendors, co-workers, and other persons.
