Skilled Craftsmen of Texas, Inc. is hiring for Maintenance Electrician I or II with experience in the manufacturing industry.

Description:
ELECTRICIAN I – Under regular supervision, an Electrician I is responsible for installing, servicing and repairing wiring, conduits, fixtures and other electrical devices, systems and equipment in a demanding industrial manufacturing environment. Assists in departmental housekeeping and safety efforts, orders parts required to maintain repair part inventories, and works collaboratively with equipment repair mechanics, production counterparts, and vendors to ensure production workflow. Performance expected to be at an entry level capacity.
ELECTRICIAN II – an Electrician II is responsible for items described for an Electrician I, but require stronger work experience within each function. Limited supervision required. May help to direct Level I Electricians in the performance of their duties and provide them with on-the-job training (OJT) as necessary. Performance expected to be at an intermediate to advanced level capacity. Promotion from Electrician I based on criteria determined by management.
Lead Designations (Lead A & B) – duties include those described those for an Electrician A, but include the performance of some supervisory and administrative duties. Additionally, a Lead Electrician will dispense work assignments to mechanics and electricians as well as other maintenance personnel. B-Level Leads are subordinate to A-Levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Electrician I-II September 2023
Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
Record and maintain production, repair, and equipment maintenance information for CMMS applications.
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is necessary in order to perform the essential functions of this position.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and order parts using purchasing protocols. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
Maintain and secure work tools, and clean shop and work areas.
Safely operate mobile machinery certified to use.
Other duties as directed and assigned.
JOB SCOPE:
This position provides specialty support to the maintenance department and departments throughout the facility.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule format.
Knowledge of predictive maintenance protocols and tools.
Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: Hand tools, stationary equipment, vehicles.
Must be able to use precision measuring equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, multitask and work independently with attention to detail.
Ability to work against and meet deadlines.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Successful completion of apprenticeship program strongly desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The environmental conditions for this position include inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, dust, wind and various forms of precipitation.
Walking, moving around and or standing 6-8 hours or more per day. Walking includes moving within a 100-acre facility with dirt roads and uneven ground.
Recurring climbing and descending of stairs throughout the day to perform work at heights. Work for this position can be performed at an elevated station and requires a comfort with heights and balance.
A minimum amount of sitting may be required for this position.
There is repetitive hand-wrist, elbow and shoulder motion required for this position for approximately 6-8 hours during the workday.
Lifting and or retrieving items of 0-50 pounds without assistance; 50 – 100 pounds with assistance and 100+ pounds with mechanical assistance.
In the course of a normal day additional physical activities include bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching and climbing ladders.
Exposure to a wide range of varying degree of moderate to excessive noise levels.
Sight must be within normal ranges to determine that machines are running properly.
