Requisition Summary Design engineer responsible for production support. Duties involve engineering assistance, problem resolution, training, and other engineering duties to support various aspects of heavy truck production. May design parts utilizing a CAD system applying standard engineering techniques while working independently or as part of a team. Be able to commit to a Monday – Friday 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM shift. Evening Shift employees are eligible for an additional 8% shift differential salary increase. Job Functions / Responsibilities This role will be responsible for overseeing production Frame & Axle areas and working to resolve/mitigate/prevent routing failures with electrical and/or pneumatic components. Apply knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems and components from design to implementation of truck systems and components.

Coordinates and completes projects with other engineering groups and departments within the Company.

Assigns, approves, performs, or delegates design modifications as appropriate.

Identifies and initiates designs of a complex nature.

Completes design projects and manufacturing process changes from planning, calculation and design analysis, design, testing, evaluation, and implementation necessary for successful completion.

Project work supports key operational goals specific to PQI and DPU.

Travel may be required.

Qualifications

BSME, BSEE, or related degree preferred.

Previous design experience preferred.

Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck assembly. Heavy truck components and systems knowledge are preferred.

CAD system experience required.

Experience using DFSS methodology preferred.

Be able to handle multiple tasks and take initiative as a self-starter.

Be a team player and problem solver with professional and effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Be able to commit to a Monday – Friday 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM shift.
