Description We are offering a contract for a permanent position as a Public Staff Tax Accountant in El Paso, Texas. As a Public Staff Tax Accountant, you will be expected to prepare tax returns, maintain financial records, and manage bookkeeping tasks. This role is based in an office environment and demands a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and tax knowledge.Responsibilities: Preparation of tax returns ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements Contribute to the maintenance and review of all financial records Handle bookkeeping tasks using Quickbooks, prior experience is not necessary Apply knowledge of debits and credits to ensure accurate financial entries Undertake the preparation of trial balances, including the listing of all general ledger accounts at a specific point in time Utilize basic accounting knowledge and tax experience to perform job functions efficiently. Requirements Possess the ability to prepare tax returns accurately and efficiently. Have basic knowledge of bookkeeping practices. Display a strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations. Demonstrate proficiency in tax software and other financial systems. Exhibit strong analytical skills to interpret tax data and financial reports. Show strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet tax deadlines. Display a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax return preparation and bookkeeping. Have excellent communication skills to explain complex tax concepts to clients. Demonstrate a strong ethical standard to handle sensitive financial information confidentially. Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA certification or working towards obtaining it is preferred. Prior experience in a public accounting firm or a tax department is a plus.
