Here’s What You NeedAssociate's Degree Nursing RequiredBachelor's Degree Nursing Upon hire PreferredExperience1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program, or a THR residency program Required1 year of lactation experience is preferredLicenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required andBCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly RequiredNRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days Required AndIBCLC - Lactation Consultant 12 Months RequiredSkillsA high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.What You Will DoAs a nurse, you will focus on responding to others priorities regarding safety, physical and psychological needs while paying close attention to maintenance of comfort and human emotion during health and illness, while providing safe patient care.As a lactation consultant, you act as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problemsParticipates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource CenterAdditional perks of being a Texas Health Employee
