Long-established CPA firm in Houston's Galleria Area is looking for an administrative assistant with an accounting and/or tax background. This person will be the main point of contact with clients to handle inquiries, schedule appointments, receive and organize incoming tax information, contact clients to obtain missing information, etc.
Responsibilities also include entering data into QuickBooks to prepare client financial statements, entering tax data into our tax return software, and scanning information into our document management system.
Specific duties are as follows:
Receive incoming correspondence (e-mails, phone calls, in-person) and handle it, or route it to appropriate person.
Control individual tax preparation process including organizing documents, individual tax return data entry, chase missing information, handle tax questions, package up returns and assist with delivery to client.
Handle requests from clients for tax return copies and other documentation requests.
Bookkeeping – Prepare financial statements in QuickBooks desktop and online from source documents provided by clients to be used for the client's tax return.
Allocate credit card expenses for business tax returns for clients who send credit card statements who have not allocated the expenses.
Other data entry and clerical projects such as e-filing extensions, Texas no-tax due returns, etc.
Send monthly collection statements and e-mails.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills required. Experience with QuickBooks accounting software and ProSeries tax software preferred. A degree in accounting is preferred.
