The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.In partnership with the SrVP, People, Culture, and Infrastructure, and the Chief Academic Officer, the Chief Wellness Officer (CWO) leads efforts for a sustainable workforce wellness model at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, as outlined in The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being (2022).The CWO will lead collaborative efforts across the institution to integrate wellness into academic, operational, and financial programs. Instrumental is providing guidance and leadership with oversight over the financial, operational, and research components of a newly created Wellness and Mental Health Institute.Partner with key institutional stakeholders to align organizational strategies that support employee wellness while focused on the aim of One MD Anderson.Develop an external presence in healthcare workers' wellness and advance MD Anderson as a leader.Requires the leadership skills to guide the development of affiliations and collaborations internally and externally consistent with the institutional mission and objectives.KEY FUNCTIONSProvide expertise in the principles and practices that contribute to employee wellness, including cultivating personal resilience, community building, organizational efficiencies, and developing a culture of wellness that foster engagement and professional fulfillment at the individual level, group level and system level.Collaborate and partner with key stakeholders across the institution.
Invest in measurement, assessment, strategy, and research
Engage effective technology tools
Institutionalize workforce wellness as a long-term value
Provide oversight and financial support for the Institute research program
Partner in fund raising for the Institute
Utilizes evidence-based and best practice approaches for improving wellness and professional fulfillment
Initiate and maintain partnerships with external institutions
Serves as a role model for emotional intelligence, coachability, drive, professionalism, accountability, knowledge sharing, and capacity building
Relocation assistance will be available.REQUIREMENTSEducationRequired: MD, PhD, or MD/PhDExperienceRequired:
Academic rank of Associate Professor or higher
10 years as a research or clinical faculty member in an academic healthcare setting
10 years' experience in a formal leadership role where you have demonstrated excellence in the all the tenets required of a MD Anderson leader in Leading Self and Leading others
Demonstrated competency in implementing institutional strategy and initiatives
Successful experience with leading culture changes and institution wide initiatives
