Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Director of Dental Services, the Dental Clinical Services Coordinator makes complex administrative decisions required to facilitate efficient dental operations across all Dental Health and Prevention programs. A technical knowledge of dentistry, obtained through dental professional training and clinical dental experience, will be utilized to ensure compliance with a wide range of regulations, policies and procedures that govern the practice of dentistry.Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Operations Coordination

In collaboration with the Director of Dental Services, establishes and updates the Clinical-Standard Operating Procedures (C-SOP) to ensure standardization across programs.

Trains new dental team members on the C-SOP.

Monitors the C-SOP to ensure compliance with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, the Dental Practice Act, OSHA, and all regulatory and safety standards related to dentistry.

Performs sterilization training for new dental assistants and dental hygienists upon initial hire.

Serves as the Electronic Dental Record technical liaison - troubleshoots software and hardware issues on behalf of the clinical teams and coordinates with technical support for a resolution.

Coordinates team trainings relative to C-SOP updates and annual trainings (OSHA, Infection Control, Radiology Safety).

Renews annual service agreements with EDR and digital sensor vendors.

Supply and Inventory Coordination

Coordinates supply, equipment, and inventory control and purchasing to ensure optimal clinic effectiveness.

Responsible for approving monthly supply orders.

Works with dental vendors to identify cost savings opportunities.

In collaboration with the Dental Program Support Coordinator, obtains quotes and/or submits requests for creation of purchase orders.

Review all supply invoices for receipt of items prior to the creation of receipts for payment in the STARS system.

Clinical Quality Assurance

Performs monthly site inspections of clinical, sterilization, and storage areas.

Reviews the sterilization logs for appropriate completion and documentation of biological monitoring for autoclaves.

Provides oversight for quarterly waterline testing.

Schedules and maintains records of annual preventive maintenance visits.

Schedules and maintains records of Radiology Equipment Performance Evaluations.

Program Support

Provides provisions of preventive dental services for any of the HCPH dental programs including the mobile dental unit, HCPH clinics, and/or other community settings as needed.

Provides oral health promotion and demonstration of proper oral hygiene techniques in various community settings.

Other

Performs other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event.

Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene; and

Registered Dental Hygienist (Texas upon hire).

BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Provider Certification.

One (1) year experience in a dental clinical setting as a practicing dental hygienist.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Word.

Knowledge of effective clinic coordination techniques.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulation related to the practice of dentistry.

Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire).

Preferences

Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene.

Certified OSHA Authorized Trainer.

Two (2) years experience in a dental clinical setting as a practicing dental hygienist.

Experience working as a clinical coordinator.

Experience coordinating operations for a company with multiple locations.
