Job SummaryThe Payroll Director establishes the strategic vision for the payroll function, ensuring alignment with WM's overarching business objectives. This leader is dedicated to enhancing payroll processes, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, while keeping senior management informed of key updates. Responsible for driving operational improvements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency, the Director also champions leadership development and professional growth within the payroll team. This role requires a collaborative and innovative leader who can effectively engage cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and ensure that the payroll function is agile, compliant, and closely aligned with WM's strategic direction.II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the development of payroll’s strategic outlook and initiatives

Partners with WM business leaders to understand the key risks and issues in payroll service delivery to WM’s business operations

Defines the payroll functions short, mid, and long-term priorities and objectives, limiting operational and compliance risk exposure due to payroll inefficiencies and errors

Responsible for the training and professional development of the payroll team to ensure the team’s skillset aligns with the strategic initiatives of the payroll function

Accountable for the accuracy of payroll and strict adherence to all business and regulatory requirements of the payroll function

Drives a culture of compliance and risk management across all areas of payroll to limit regulatory and operational risks originating from the payroll department

Business Capabilities

Demonstrate visionary leadership in relationship management, exhibiting communication skills that reshape the payroll function's stakeholder engagement.

Provide leadership in identifying potential risks, are proficient in avoiding or managing liabilities, and contribute to setting the regulatory and compliance agenda within the organization.

Identify trends, foresee potential issues, and devise strategies to safeguard the company, instilling a strong compliance culture throughout the organization.

Guide and influence key stakeholders, driving transformation in payroll service delivery, and handle the most complex payroll service delivery challenges with confidence and skill.

Strong comprehension of WM’s approach to its operational strategy and applies innovative solutions to improve the source-to-gross, gross-to-net, and net-to-record strategy.

Through strong integration with HR, Accounting, and other departments, create value by enhancing payroll operations.

Propose solutions and mitigate risk before issues arise within payroll delivery.

Technical Capabilities

Proficiency in both Oracle and UKG technologies, with thorough understanding of system integrations and its impact on accurate payroll disbursements.

Manage complex payroll situations, and lead the reconciliation of payroll expenses, preparing complex financial reports, and partner with payroll accounting to ensure adherence to all relevant policies and regulations.

Display mastery over analyzing intricate payroll data, crafting thorough and intelligible reports, and promptly addressing any discrepancies within payroll data inputs.

Evaluate large, complex datasets to expose key patterns and trends, and are proficient in using advanced analytical tools to generate comprehensive reports and visualizations.

Expertise in ensuring accurate payroll computations and disbursements regardless of the complexity.

Communicate and implement these changes seamlessly throughout the organization, ensuring maximum efficiency and compliance with higher standards.

III. QualificationsThe requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience leading payroll and payroll tax functions required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required upon hire.
