The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.As a member of the Cancer Network team, the Director, Quality Management Programs, reports to the Chief Quality and Value Officer, and provides direction and oversight of Cancer Network (CN) Quality and other areas as needed.Key FunctionsLeadership and Strategic Planning:Lead and develop strategic and detailed planning and projects for Quality in alignment with the single national Partnership model; and Global Programs as needed.Serve as one of the primary non-physician liaisons for all connections between the Cancer Network and MD Anderson.Serve as subject matter expert within Cancer Network for clinical process and performance improvement around safety and quality programs.Represents the Cancer Network at MD Anderson's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Council.Lead Quality activities related to implementing and managing new collaborative opportunities with potential and active affiliates for CN.Contribute to financial and strategic planning in alignment with MD Anderson and the CNs business and financial goals.Present strategic project recommendations to executive leaders and Quality Management Committee Members.Lead multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams to ensure the goals of the business areas are obtained.Implement, review and report on operational plans for all CN Quality's business areas ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the related teams.Quality Management and Oversight:Provides Quality oversight of site assessments for potential and active network Partners including quality, safety, and multidisciplinary evidence-based care delivery alongside Clinical Operations Executive Directors.Serves as performance improvement content expert to mentor and support Quality Liaisons in their work with Cancer Network quality teams.Reviews Quality data for Partners in collaboration with dedicated Partner Quality Liaison and Partner Quality teams in comparison with quality management program requirements and makes recommendations for gap closure.Utilizes national benchmarking to prioritize quality efforts and drive performance improvement.Thorough monitoring of metrics, routine site visits and ongoing personal and committee communication, assume primary responsibility to ensure CN clients receive appropriate support and make progress to goals within their QI Plans.Ensures accurate and timely reporting of appropriate customers to the Quality Management Committee, with follow up as directed by the Committee.Collaborates and assists Faculty and Partner Quality Leaders in the execution of the Quality Management Committee, and in the preparation of reports.Assists sites in working with quality liaison to prepare the annual quality management plan, and final year-end quality report.Identifies opportunities for publications and assures submission to appropriate publications and organizations to promote best practices and elevate CN'S and MD Anderson's visibility in the quality and safety arenas.Manage and mentor Quality Liaisons for orientation, quality of deliverables, and relationship management, and as needed.Develops Consulting Capacity in the Quality Liaison team: Mentors liaisons in how to serve as value-add, content experts who bring performance improvement foundational skills to support Cancer Network partners, while the partners execute on the work locally.Consistently represents MD Anderson-brand mission, vision and values both internally and to external partners and ensures that Quality Liaisons do the same.Collaboration and CommunicationContributes to the planning and execution of designated Network Meetings and Symposia.Contribute to the achievement of MD Anderson and Cancer Network's overall mission and goals.Identifies opportunities for and makes recommendations to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and standardization for the CN Partners.Interacts with MD Anderson dedicated Information Services Team, Quality leaders, and Healthcare Systems Engineering team to maximize technologies that support efficient gathering of data and reporting of results.Engages with support services to include Communications/Social Business Platform, Project Management, to ensure business area objectives are met.Contributes to new project areas such as Innovation, Navigation, Nursing Leadership, , Elsevier Clinical Path, Vizient.Collaborates with Network physician leadership to identify clinical opportunities for new tools and assessments to be developed to enhance the CN's program and meet the needs of both MD Anderson and Network customers.Collaborates with outside sponsors to support CN's educational activities.May be required to work non-traditional work hours to accommodate workload and delivery of deadline-driven projects. 20% travel, some international, to be expected.Collaborates with CN clients as needed to enhance continuity and increase services provided.EDUCATIONRequired: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related fieldPreferred: Master's degree in business administration or related fieldCERTIFICATIONPreferred: Certified Professional in-Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
